Another case of food poisoning. The most beautiful day turned into a nightmare for all the participants of Erika and Alessio's wedding. They got married last Saturday in Latina, but the wedding dinner could have ended in tragedy.
This is just the latest in a long list of events that have ended with food poisoning. Poor food? Poor control? Health and food safety must be increasingly paid attention to because it takes very little to cause a tragedy.
At Erika and Alessio's wedding there were truly moments of panic: "My husband's grandfather was on the ground, with 118 reviving him" as the bride recounts.
"For us the most important thing was to make people feel good and have a great party. In the blink of an eye we found ourselves catapulted into a horror movie: there were people vomiting in the bathroom, in the garden, Alessio's grandfather lying on the floor with the 118 nurses trying to revive him, my diabetic father taken away in an ambulance. If it weren't for the emergency services, in addition to the wedding that evening we would have also celebrated another function".
During the dinner the guests felt sick probably due to food poisoning. As written by FanPage.it, there are about eighty people in total who had vomiting and diarrhea in a very serious way.
The groom's uncle and grandfather, elderly and with pathologies, were taken to the hospital in red code. "Now they are better, but we were scared: we risked losing them" the bride tells Fanpage.it.
The first guest to feel unwell was the groom's father, and then gradually the other guests. Although initially we tried to remain calm, by the tenth guest who felt symptoms we understood that something was wrong. In an instant the ambulance and the police arrived, the party was abruptly interrupted. There were at least forty people who were feeling unwell between the hall and the garden at that moment. Furthermore, it was not possible to complete the dinner nor the dessert buffet nor the cutting of the cake. Luckily the children present did not feel ill.
The bride also tried to call the location managers who initially attributed the sickness to the air conditioning, due to the change from hot to cold. But there were at least fifteen who were sick at that moment alone.
It was only late at night that the managers were seen when the police arrived.
Surely, the bride always says, they had no intention of creating food poisoning, but we would have expected some closeness, some help.
In the end, Erika and Alessio were able to leave for their honeymoon. The ASL is contacting all the guests who were sick to understand what triggered the poisoning. The most investigated hypothesis is that it was the fish, since those who ate the meat did not show any symptoms.
