Federico II and Getplus: agreement signed for the development of the Next project for modular vehicles in urban systems.
University of Naples Federico 2 and Getplus sign a framework agreement of collaboration for the development of the Next project for the implementation and use of modularity in urban systems.
The agreement anticipates further initiatives that will involve the University for the technological and system verification of some important innovations created by this dynamic company. Getplus is a technology company for the management of the traffic of goods and people that is developing a new electric mobility system with the use of a new vehicle called 'PODS'.
The world of mobility is rapidly changing and Federico II participates in industrial innovation and the training of a new generation of highly qualified technicians capable of managing vehicles, infrastructures and transport services of the future. The strengths of the Next solution are modularity and flexibility, capable of expressing their maximum potential if expressed within the CCAM paradigm – Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility.
'The ongoing projects at Federico II, including those related to the newly established National Center for Sustainable Mobility, the three-year and master's degrees, particularly the international one in Transportation Engineering and Mobility, the industrial research doctorates, the University Task Force for Smart and Sustainable Mobility, the initiatives with the most important stakeholders in the sector are all pieces of a long-term strategy that projects the Neapolitan University to the forefront of the transportation revolution' declares Cino Bifulco, professor of Transportation Engineering and responsible for the agreement for the University Federico II.
'The modular conformation of Next's PODS together with the fleet management software allows the reduction of approximately 60% of urban traffic of goods and people. Federico II through its engineering excellence will support Getplus as a partner for the development and optimization of the product, alongside the international team that is currently developing the vehicles between Padua and Dubai. An Italian path of excellence in sustainable electric mobility begins', declares the board member with responsibility for external relations at Getplus, Domenico Giudici.
