Torre Annunziata. There are also baby pushers and recipients of citizen income among the 18 arrested in the blitz of the carabinieri that dismantled the drug dealing square of the Poverelli district.
This morning, in fact, the military personnel of the Operational Section of the Carabinieri Company of Torre Annunziata executed an order applying personal precautionary measures, issued by the GIP of the Court of Torre Annunziata at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, against 18 people.
They are all seriously suspected of the crimes of possession and dealing of narcotic substances such as cocaine, extortion, illegal possession and carrying of common firearms in public places, for a total of 60 charges, 58 of which concern drugs.
The investigation activity, conducted by the Carabinieri and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata, was started in December 2018 following the gunshot wounding of a man, who later turned out to be a buyer of drugs, which occurred at inside the popular “Poverelli” district of the historic center of Torre Annunziata.
The investigations, which continued until March 2019, allowed us to document a significant number of transfers of "cocaine" to numerous buyers from all over the province of Naples, by individuals belonging to different family groups, all resident in the aforementioned district.
Through the interception of telephone conversations and between bystanders, as well as observation and shadowing services, serious indications of guilt were gathered against the alleged suppliers of the narcotic substance and numerous sales of the same to drug addicts were ascertained, which also involved the execution of 3 arrests in flagrante delicto and the seizure of over 70 grams of narcotics during the investigations.
The investigative activity revealed the particular prudence adopted by the "drug dealers", who used to use cryptic language to deal with the sale of narcotic substances, using conventional expressions such as "embassy, coffee, thing, biscuit", as well as receiving regular buyers inside apartments protected by illegally installed video surveillance systems.
Some sales were made by subjects subjected, at the time of the facts, to the precautionary measure of house arrest for other crimes, as well as by making use of minors under the age of 18, used for the delivery of the narcotic substance "to the home". The narcotic sold from time to time varied from single doses, referred to as "pellets", to supplies of several tens of grams of cocaine.
Furthermore, during the investigations, extortionate conduct aimed at the recovery of credits accrued following the sale of narcotic substances also emerged, which would have been carried out by some of the suspects having access to firearms.
For 16 of the suspects, 5 of whom were already detained in prison for another cause, precautionary custody in prison was ordered, while for 2 of the suspects a ban on residence in the province of Naples was ordered, as they are mothers of young children.
The coercive measures were carried out against 17 of the 18 subjects to whom they were addressed, while one suspect, against whom precautionary detention in prison was ordered, is still actively sought by the Carabinieri.
Four of the subjects subject to the precautionary measure were ultimately found to be recipients of the Citizenship Income and will be reported to INPS for the revocation of the benefit, as they are no longer entitled to it.
