In view of the expiration of the rules for the occupation of public land decided at the national level to support commercial activities in times of covid, the Municipality of Naples is working on the theme of public space.
The first step is the approval by the City Council of the new regulation that will be brought to the Commission in the coming weeks and then brought to the floor. "With Councilor Armato, we are working in parallel on the reorganization of the outdoor spaces, of the dehors - said the mayor, Gaetano Manfredi - so that when the moratorium rules related to Covid expire, we will be ready to provide answers that will be able to combine the legitimate needs of the operators with the needs of decorum and organization of the city"
Urban decor, city cleaning, transport and opening of construction sites are the priorities 'to bring home' by the end of the year that the municipal administration is working on. The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, dictated the road map from now until December on the sidelines of the City Council.
On the front of decorum and cleanliness, the mayor reported that yesterday, together with the Environment Councillor, Paolo Mancuso, a meeting was held with the top management of Asia with whom "a series of extraordinary interventions are being discussed to be started as early as September while waiting for the arrival of the personnel to improve sweeping, street washing, cleaning and collection".
As for transport, Manfredi reiterated that the goal is to put the first of 10 new trains into service. "We hope that all the checks go well," said the mayor, "so that we have the go-ahead to put the line into service: this is fundamental because putting the first train online means quickly starting to put the others online."
A sore point was the deserted first leg of the tram races, an issue on which Manfredi expressed his "concern. The price increases that are occurring are putting the forecasts made out of line."
Finally, regarding the construction sites, Manfredi highlighted the importance of starting the construction sites ''of the many investments we have because it means providing jobs as well as starting a process of transformation of the city for which we have important resources". The mayor also reported that "soon" there will be an announcement regarding a road map for interventions at the Business Centre "to which we must give a new vocation."
