'On the End of Time' by Luigi Angelino in bookstores for Stamperia del Valentino for the I Polifemi series. Luigi Angelino reinterprets old texts, in light of new scourges, from the pandemic to the war in Europe.
For the I Polifemi series by Stamperia del Valentino, “Sulla fine dei tempi” by Luigi Angelino is coming to bookstores (18 euros, 164 pages).
With the expressions “Last Times” or “Last Days”, the prophecies of the Bible and of other ancient civilizations refer to an era of extraordinary and dramatic events: everything that should happen in the final phase of the existence of the world, at least in the version in which we know it.
In collective Christian anguish, “the End Times” are characterized by the advent of the Antichrist, Satan’s emissary on Earth, the person capable of hiding his own supreme iniquity, disguising himself in false light and gaining immense power over the entire planet, a power that could manifest itself in the political, religious and financial spheres. But discourses on the “End Times” can have a secular connotation, going beyond the purely religious dimension.
The Antichrist, in fact, is not necessarily to be considered as a person, but can be seen as a corrupt and blasphemous ideology that, abandoning any metaphysical ambition, dehumanizes itself in the most unbridled materialism, where "the mark without which one cannot buy or sell" constitutes the punishment that the human race itself inflicts. Without any millenarian exaggeration, recent tragic events, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the war conflict on European territory that raises fears of a nuclear escalation, as well as the widespread economic crisis, which enriches a few and impoverishes most of the world's population, push us to reinterpret the old texts, in light of the new scourges, with the watchful and rational eye of those who never lose hope.
