November 2, Manfredi: “The cemetery has many problems, we are working to respond to problems that have been there for decades”.
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, said this on the sidelines of the celebration of the deceased which, like every year, took place in the church of the Poggioreale cemetery.
“Today we have a cemetery that requires extraordinary maintenance work, especially on the part of the owners – added the mayor – of private chapels, of confraternities on which there is a need for extraordinary maintenance and also for stability assessments”.
Before the religious function, celebrated by the Archbishop of Naples, Monsignor Domenico Battaglia, the mayor Manfredi, and the prefect of Naples, Claudio Palomba, laid wreaths at the monument 'Agli undici fiori del Melarancio', at the funeral monument in memory of Annalisa Durante, an innocent victim of organized crime, and at the tombs that house the remains of the Presidents of the Republic, De Nicola and Leone.
The ceremony was also attended by the city's top law enforcement officials and the councilor responsible for Cemeteries, Vincenzo Santagada.
