The second home market in Italy is proving to be in excellent shape, considering the increase in transactions in 2022. Furthermore, this trend is joined by a second one: Italians, in fact, also want to make their homes more sustainable, both to reduce consumption and therefore costs on their bills, and to meet the needs of the planet. So let's look at this in more detail.
The second home market in Italy
According to the latest official data, the second home market has experienced a real boom, to the point of having collected a 52% increase in purchases in Italy. This is a sign that indicates the following: families on the Peninsula have decided to change their lifestyle, with the need to escape the cities and relax. It is no coincidence that the second home market has a major protagonist: seaside resorts, the absolute favorite when buying a home for non-residents.
Furthermore, thanks to smart working, today there are many Italian workers who can afford to enjoy this investment more effectively, precisely because of the possibility of working from home. As mentioned above, the desire to make their homes more sustainable also emerges. The green logic applied to the four walls of the home has become a must, to the point that 23% of Italians choose a home with a high energy label. Finally, technologies such as photovoltaic panels are increasingly used.
Tips for a sustainable second home
First of all, it is advisable to focus on energy-saving appliances, therefore equipped with a high class, and on the right lighting. In the second case, we refer for example to LED lights, perhaps in combination with a home automation lighting system with presence sensors. As anticipated above, today renewables play a fundamental role for a green home, and there are different ways to use them inside your homes.
First of all, you can think about choosing one of the free market energy and gas suppliers that use exclusively renewable sources, such as LIVE energy, for example. Another solution could be to proceed with the installation of a photovoltaic system, or solar panels for heating sanitary water. Clearly a green house cannot do without the correct management of waste, with the aim of differentiating it and disposing of it in the right way, in addition to the need to avoid the use of materials such as plastic. Finally, green houses should be able to count on a green space. We are not talking exclusively about the garden, but also about extensive or intensive roofs, vertical gardens and indoor green solutions.
The most popular destinations in Campania for second homes
Campania is a region with a clear touristic vote: it is not surprising, therefore, that many Italians look for a second home right here. Of course, there are some places more appreciated than others, as in the case of Sorrento and Cilento, together with the well-known Amalfi Coast.
