Fear in the evening for travellers on the last direct train from Sorrento to Naples along the Circumvesuviana line.
The train, for reasons still being ascertained, derailed while passing through the Pozzano tunnel in the territory of Castellammare di Stabia. The low speed meant that there were no injuries. Only a lot of scares for the travellers.
On site i firefighters and the police forces who evacuated the convoy and rescued the travellers.
Eav has set up a replacement bus service from Castellammare to Vico Equense, while trains headed to Sorrento are returning to the Porta Nolana terminal.
An investigation will certainly be opened into the accident. Now we await communications from Eav, after technical checks on the line. It will be necessary to establish whether tomorrow commuters and tourists on the Sorrento peninsula will be able to use train services.
