On June 30th they will appear before the judges of the Court of Torre Annunziata for the first hearing of the trial for the business of the redevelopment of the former Cirio area of Castellammare di Stabia.
Article Key Points
These are the two former Forza Italia parliamentarians, Luigi Cesaro and Antonio Pentangelo. With them on trial are the engineer Anthony Elephant, designer of the mega construction project and Maurice Biondi, who at the time of the contested facts was the commissioner ad acta appointed by the body province of Naples, today Metropolitan City.
The contested episodes (and for which house arrest was requested for both Cesaro and Pentangelo) concern two alleged episodes of corruption in relation to the future of the former Cirio real estate complex in Castellammare di Stabia.
The request for the arrest of the two parliamentarians was annulled by the Review Court due to the inadmissibility of the wiretaps and contested by the Prosecutor's Office in Supreme CourtThe ermines agreed with the investigators of Torre Annunziata, once again pushing the Review Court to express its opinion on the request, which was once again annulled, this time because after two years the precautionary needs would no longer exist.
At the centre of the investigation, however, is the rigged nomination by Maurizio Biondi as commissioner ad acta (provision signed in 2014 by Antonio Pentangelo, then acting vice president of the province of Naples) for the issuing of the building permit in the former Cirio area.
Engineer Elefante made a “cresta” on the bribes
But the investigation also includes the architect Antonio Elefante, technical director of the Cirio operation and intermediary with Biondi. Elefante - according to the accusations - dictated the timing of the procedure but above all is the author of two sensational "crests" on the bribes to Biondi. Once instead of delivering 10 thousand euros he delivered 7 and a second time even 5 instead of 10.
