A controversy has arisen over the new sports center that is expected to be built too close to the cemetery.
The Prosecutor's Office would like to see clearly. At the moment these are just rumors, but the City Council resolution no. 43 of March 18, 2021, leaves open a series of doubts about the legitimacy of the possible and alleged building operation.
The topic, debated, is the possible exemption on the distance between the cemetery and the sports center that an entrepreneur intends to build on the land adjacent to the cemetery, bringing to mind the positions taken in the council by the then councilor Paola Lupoli (political shooting star) and her alter ego, Giovanni Pezzullo.
The entire area on which the new sports center would be built, however, would necessarily have to obtain the green light from the health authority. Currently the restriction, dictated by health and hygiene parameters and formal respect for deceased loved ones, is one hundred meters. A sort of belt in which it is not possible to build anything.
But, as a former top administrator points out, the area identified for the construction of the new center has already been included in the Urban Planning Regulations and in all likelihood, the ASL's opinion will be positive and the exemption will be granted. Once the ASL's approval has been received, the ball will be back in the Municipality's court, which will have to start the procedure for the urban planning variant. In short, in Frattamaggiore all the green spaces are being occupied.
