The leaders of Jabil they have not withdrawn the dismissals of 190 workers and since this morning an indefinite strike has begun with a blockade of the gates of the factory in Marcianise, in the province of Caserta.
The regional secretary of Uilm Campania, Crescenzo Auriemma, announced it. “Last night there was black smoke after the meeting at Mimit between the union and the company a few days after the start of the job losses – explained the leader of the Uil metalworkers – the American company continued to maintain a hard line.
A rigid conduct that we believe to be unjustified since, over the years, Jabil has gone from more than a thousand employees to a drastic reduction in workers. Just think of the transfer of 250 workers to Softlab, workers who are still on redundancy and who boast several months of salary.
In addition, there are 23 people who have migrated to Orefice where the company never started. Today, Jabil itself would like the 190 employees to move to another hub that is growing in the area, TME, whose insertion project would take place between June and December”.
For Auriemma, "leaving these workers on Naspi is unacceptable, also because, until there are real guarantees of employment, we cannot accept that we run the risk of losing more jobs in an area like Caserta. Too many broken promises have created difficulties and mistrust for us."
“If Jabil and TME really intend to relocate these workers while ensuring continuity, Jabil should withdraw the dismissals as proposed by the Ministry and resume the legal instruments that allow for the continuation of the union discussion and the search for certain guarantees for the workers declared redundant.
We are ready to start a serious and guarantee discussion for those who work, but we also fear that - concluded the general secretary Uilm Campania - this multinational, like others in Italy, is leaving only unemployment after having taken everything that was possible between incentives, CIG and various funds.
In a time of development for the South they leave us with empty production sites and unemployed workers. This is no longer tolerable in Campania. The industry is dying and it seems that this no longer interests anyone”.
