“The register of tumors in the Campania region it is stuck at the 2014 and 2016 data with the exception of a single register updated to 2018. An unacceptable and disqualifying condition for a territory in which the oncology network represents a model in terms of efficiency and care for patients".
Tommaso Pellegrino, group leader of Italia Viva in the Regional Council, said this during his speech during Question Time.
“Having updated data is essential – Pellegrino specified – this is particularly important to guide health planning policies, as well as to exclude those alarms that periodically arise in our territories that, inevitably, we must chase by taking away the right attention where real anomalies and incidences above the average are recorded that require targeted and timely interventions.
Already in May 2021, we unanimously approved a motion in the Council with which we asked our regional health directorate to take action as soon as possible to have a tumor registry updated in real time. It is sad to return once again to a topic that I believe to be particularly important for the community. On the other hand, in an era in which technology reigns supreme, in which with a simple 'click' we can obtain any information, I consider it absurd not to use it to have an updated tumor registry. Enough with unbelievable justifications, enough with useless and inexplicable delays.
It is time to know what is being done concretely to activate the tumor registry in a dignified time, we owe it to the many families who have loved ones affected by oncological pathologies", concluded Pellegrino.
