A bag containing bullets, perhaps gunpowder and a sort of fuse or trigger, which was missing a component to make it explosive, was found this afternoon in a street in Sanremo, not far from the Ariston Theatre where the Sanremo Music Festival takes place. Sanremo.
Investigations are underway to verify the explosive potential of the package. It was apparently found by a police officer.
The police bomb squad has already recovered the package that was on the ground in a side street of Via Fiume, about 500 meters from the Ariston, a narrow street where scooters were parked.
The purse was apparently found by a police officer from a police station located about two hundred meters away. The prosecutor's office has been notified and is awaiting an initial report from the bomb squad.
In the days preceding the Song Festival, the police had arranged for increased surveillance in the city with a reinforcement of the staff for fear of possible actions by anarchists protesting against 41 bis in Cospito.
The street where the purse was found is outside the red zone set up every year around the Ariston Theater, which can only be accessed after security checks by the police.
