The municipal council of NAPLES has approved the technical and economic feasibility project for the extension of the city's cycle network in the north-western Fuorigrotta-Soccavo area. "The project - explains a note - responds to the objectives of the Pnrr to connect railway stations and university campuses".
The stations involved are the Circumflegrea of Soccavo, the stations of Fuorigrotta and, in particular, the Cumana Mostra station, the line 2 Campi Flegrei and Cavalleggeri stations, as well as the line 6 Mostra station which will open in 2024. The new cycle network connects the sites of the Federico II University of Piazzale Tecchio, Via Claudio and Monte Sant'Angelo. The new section is built in continuity with the existing cycle path section that reaches the university site of Agnano and the Cumana stations of Edenlandia and Agnano. The cycle network will also extend to Via Diocleziano and Via Giulio Cesare.
“The Administration, in line with the Sustainable Mobility Urban Plan, intends to invest in the extension of the cycle network in a neighborhood that hosts important university campuses and numerous metropolitan infrastructures such as the Maradona stadium, the Rai headquarters, the Cnr motors institute, the Mostra d'Oltremare, served by the system of city subway networks and connecting with the various stations of Cumana, Circumvesuviana and Lines 2 and 6”, explains the mobility councilor of the Municipality of NAPLES, Edoardo Cosenza.
"This is about 10 km of new infrastructure - he adds - for the construction of which resources are available under the Ciclovie decree and the Pnrr. Overall, the Municipality of NAPLES, as part of Mission 2 of the Pnrr dedicated to strengthening cycling mobility, has about 10 million euros available to create no less than 2026 km of cycle paths by 35. A great investment in sustainable mobility. Thanks go to the XNUMXth Municipality for the suggestions".
