He is among the victims of the beatings that took place in the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere On April 6, 2020, the prisoner Fakhri Marouane, a Moroccan, who set himself on fire a few days ago in his cell in Pescara, suffering burns to 70% of his body.
This emerged during the trial currently underway in the bunker courtroom of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, in which Marouane, currently hospitalized in serious conditions at the Policlinico in Bari, has joined the proceedings as a civil party (defended by Lucio Marziale).
The news was given during the hearing, which was greeted with sadness by the president of the Court of Assizes Roberto Donatiello, the prosecutors and the lawyers present. Marouane was expected in the next hearings to give evidence as an injured party. From the videos of the beatings shown in the previous hearings, it emerged that the Moroccan prisoner had been among those "most closely monitored" by the prison officers during the beatings of April 6, 2020.
Marouane was forced to move on his knees with small steps to reach his place in the social area of the Sammaritan prison; left alone after the other inmates had been taken away, he was hit on the head with a truncheon, then made to stand up and kneel again at the height of an officer, and finally taken back to his cell among the policemen who continued to beat him.
