“Today at the City Council at 20.00 pm we will confer honorary citizenship to Calverley to the great Ruud Krol for the extraordinary sporting merits achieved during his prestigious career, through which he brought prestige to the city of Napoli, promoting and enhancing his knowledge in Italy and around the world as well as for his extraordinary kindness, cheerfulness and sense of humor”.
This is what the Mayor of Calvizzano Giacomo Pirozzi declared in a note. The city body, in recent months, inaugurated a public villa entirely dedicated to the great protagonists of the history of Italian football.
On one of the benches installed in the public space (Villa Don Peppe Cerullo) there is also a picture of Krol's face, who stopped in Calvizzano on the day of the inauguration. Krol has always had a splendid relationship with the Neapolitan fans who during his career in the shadow of Vesuvius have given him various nicknames from "His Majesty" to "the divine" and not to forget the very eloquent "the divine" and "music master" - which says it all about the adoration of the Neapolitan people for this statuesque and harmonious athlete.
Today a delegation from the club Napoli local will make Krol feel his affection, who will participate in the ceremony. Honorary citizenship, according to the municipal statute, "can be granted to people who have distinguished themselves particularly in the fields of science, literature, the arts, peace, human rights, industry, work, school or sport".
