On the occasion of the Republic Day, Friday 2nd June, and Sunday 4th with the initiative of the Ministry of Culture #domenicalmuseo, access will also be free to the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum. And during these two days, visits to the Casa del Bicentenario will be permitted from 8.30:10.00 to 15.00:XNUMX and from XNUMX:XNUMX until the site closes.
On days with the highest attendance, such as on days with free admission, the Archaeological Park may experience brief closures or restrictions on entry to individual homes whose floors are being monitored and studied to identify the reasons for particular fragility and plan timely interventions, as in the case of the Casa del Bicentenario.
The measure is also necessary to protect the decorated surfaces of the domus and for the safety of visiting conditions during these periods of greater affluence. "The Archaeological Park of Ercolano is registering a real boom in visitors, so much so that it is among the first in Italy chosen by tourists" informs a note from the Park.
“We are required to respect a sustainability in the attendance of the Park which, as an open-air site, requires particular attention in its protection and the anthropic pressure adds to the complex of external variables that weigh on the conservation of this delicate and unique UNESCO World Heritage site” says the director of the Ercolano Archaeological Park, Francesco Sirano.
“Our daily commitment aims to find a balance between enjoyment and conservation through an ever greater and widespread awareness on the part of an ever more loyal and growing audience of visitors, being able to count on their sensitivity and participation in the conservation processes that gravitate around an archaeological park”.
