Roma – “This is a greeting of peace, a disarming and disarming peace that comes from God, who loves us all unconditionally.”
With these words the new Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, greeted for the first time the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square, appearing from the central loggia of the Vatican Basilica.
American, 69, Augustinian Robert Francis Prevost succeeds Pope Francis, to whom he paid an affectionate tribute, recalling “that weak but ever courageous voice that blessed Rome and the entire world on Easter morning.” And he added: “Allow me to follow up on that same blessing.”
In his first message as Pontiff, Leo XIV underlined the urgency of a missionary Church, capable of building bridges through dialogue and encounter. “We must walk together,” he said, “to proclaim the Gospel. We are a Church with open arms, ready to welcome those in need, like this square.”
Thanking the cardinals who chose him as the successor of Peter, the Pope reiterated his commitment to a Church “that seeks peace and justice without fear” and invoked everyone’s help to build “one people, in peace”.

This article is very interesting and makes you think about how the Church should be more open. The words of the Pope are very important but I hope that it is not only words but also concrete actions for the future.
