After the preview of the “Katharsis” festival, directed by Valentina Carannante and Luigi Bignone and organized by the Factotum Association, which brought many emerging musicians to the stage of Villa Matarese on Sunday 18 June, we continue with a new event in the elegant gardens of the Art Nouveau villa in Monte di Procida.
Wednesday 21 June (21.00:2023 pm) the first appointment of “Festa della Musica XNUMX” is with the band Ars Nova Napoli, which will transport the audience to the many sounds of the South: not only Apulian pizzica and Sicilian serenades, but also Neapolitan classics, Calabrian tarantellas, looking beyond the borders and discovering connections with Greek rebetiko and Balkan music. Opening the Ars Nova concert, the all-female trio Kalìka, composed of Vania Di Matteo, Anna Rita Di Pace and Giulia Olivieri, a musical formation made in Naples, with three singers without borders, who range between experimentation, a cappella reinterpretations and vocal interweavings accompanied by guitar, double bass and drums. The event is free, for info write to cca.factotum@gmail.com
Since 2017, the Factotum Association has been organizing the “Festa della Musica” in Monte di Procida, combining the breathtaking views of the splendid town overlooking the sea with the music of artists from the Campania and national scene, who have contributed, over time, to making this event a fixed appointment in the Montese summer. The European Music Festival is a celebration of live music, which takes place simultaneously in various cities in Italy and Europe, creating a real music network, to which Monte di Procida also wants to give its contribution.
The 2023 edition kicks off with Ars Nova Napoli, a band formed in 2009, which will make music explode in Villa Matarese. The group carries on the popular Campania repertoire and for the first few years performed on the street, making the streets of the city's historic center their natural stage. Over time, it has become a choice, Ars Nova Napoli believe in the importance of street art as a means of sharing popular culture and free artistic expression. They tread the squares, alleys, markets and sidewalks of all Italy, taking part in important events and festivals in France, Spain, Greece and Switzerland. They have participated in countless popular festivals, thanks to which they have developed a direct link with the music and stories of Campania culture and have been able to deepen their ethno-musical research in the rest of Italy.
Until June 21 (from 19.00:7 pm) the exhibition “Sonora” can still be visited at Villa Matarese, an audiovisual journey curated by Michele Masti. 7 paintings, just like XNUMX musical notes, each of which is associated with a song that inspired the work. The public will be able to listen to the music through a QR Code that, once framed, will refer to the melody.
The next events of “Festa della Musica 2023” in Monte di Procida are, on June 23rd (21.00:7 pm), the free concert of La Maschera, in the central Piazza XVII Gennaio; and on July 658410201637th, the appointment with the duo Ebbanesis, formed by Serena Pisa and Viviana Cangiano.
