It was approved by the Council, on the proposal of the Councillor for Infrastructure, Edoardo Cosenza, the maintenance, temporary management and re-functionalization program of the city fountains that will be implemented by Abc special company Acqua Bene Comune until 31 December 2024 for a total amount of approximately 850 thousand euros.
The municipal heritage consists of approximately 54 city fountains, most of which are of historical-artistic value and monumental in nature; of these, 14 have already been repurposed and entrusted to Abc for management until 30 April 2023. To these have been added, recently, the Giant's Fountain, in via Partenope, the Fontana del Sebeto and the monumental drinking trough of Capodichino, affected by restoration work.
The measure approved by the Council extends the management, until December 31, 2024, of the 15 fountains already repurposed (Giant fountain, Artichoke fountain, Spinacorona fountain, Selleria fountain, Formello fountain; Cariati; Tazza di Porfido. Santa Lucia and Rape of Europe in Villa Comunale. Scapigliata. Neptune fountain in Piazza Municipio, Sirena fountain in Piazza Sannazaro, Triton fountain in Piazza Cavour, Diaz fountains and 2), and identifies additional fountains to be restored.
"The administration's commitment to the recovery of the city fountains continues - underlined Councilor Cosenza - in particular the program, based on the available resources and the urban intervention projects underway, concerns the reactivation of other fountains in Posillipo, in the Virgiliano park, in Piazza Salvatore di Giacomo up to the Lion fountain in Mergellina. Subsequently, based on the resources, the recovery of the fountains in the gardens of Princess Iolanda will be taken care of, already affected by the artistic lighting project within the Institutional Contract for Development Center.
