Nothing done for the assignment of the tv rights linked to the football championship of Serie A starting from 2024-25 season. During today's Assembly, the envelopes containing the offers from private negotiations were opened by the broadcasters, but the twenty Serie A clubs decided not to accept them and therefore extended the consultation period by another 30 days.
As confirmed by the President Lorenzo Casini the figures have not been disclosed: we will therefore continue with the second phase planned before taking a final decision by August 2. In the event of a negative outcome and therefore of non-assignment of the TV rights, the Alloy will evaluate phase three, that is, the negotiations for the creation of a Lega channel: the decision will not be binding, however, and a new round of consultations can be started.
“The CEO (De Siervo, ed) he informed the clubs of the ongoing negotiations, the assembly decided to deliberate an extension for these private negotiations. We are at the decisive moment”, declared Casini during the press conference at the end of the works. The president then continued: "We simply replicated what was foreseen in the guidelines and the tender, which provide that private negotiations could be extended by a further term, maximum 30 days. We had assumed that this work could be concluded today, a very intense work emerged that required the extension. I will not commit myself on the figures, I will not communicate them".
Stay anyway "real" the alternative of the League channel, but everything will depend on the progress of private negotiations and any offers, which - once the extension deadline has expired - will be proposed to the teams for final discussion. The next meeting has been set for July 14: in addition to TV rights, the budget for the 2023/2024 season will have to be discussed.
