Last evening, the State Police arrested a Piano di Sorrento a 22-year-old for resisting a public official and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
The officers of the Sorrento Police Station, following numerous reports relating to a strange movement of individuals and an alleged illicit activity, have set up targeted services aimed at ascertaining what was reported.
It was thanks to the information-investigative activity carried out that it was possible to identify a young man believed to be responsible for a flourishing drug trafficking activity.
Targeted services were therefore set up in the reported areas, following which the investigated context was actually found.
Specifically, when they arrived in a peripheral area of Piano di Sorrento, the officers noticed a car with the suspect on board, who had been approached by a person on a scooter. As soon as the officers ordered them to stop, the man on board the car, in order to gain impunity, with a sudden maneuver, accelerated the speed, attempting to run over one of the officers, who was then forced to fire shots in the air in order to dissuade the suspect from his criminal intent. Nonetheless, the fugitive managed to disappear, even if only temporarily.
In fact, a few moments later the aforementioned, already known to the operators, was tracked down at his home and found in possession of 265 euros, evident proceeds of the illegal activity perpetrated.
