The siren Partenope, Medea, Jason. And then: Ulysses, Antigone, Creon and many others. Characters of the myth that have never ceased to fascinate readers and spectators. Authentic icons of "classicism": they will be the absolute protagonists of the special "night" of the classical high school of the Salesian Institute "Sacro Cuore" of Naples-Vomero.
Also this year, in fact, the complex of via Scarlatti has joined the “Notte Nazionale del Liceo Classico”, the now traditional event (now in its 4th edition), born from an idea of prof. Rocco Schembra, supported by the Ministry of Public Education and the Italian Association of Classical Culture (as well as coordinated by a large and representative Organizing Committee), to promote and enhance classical culture (Greek and Latin). The appointment is set for Friday, April XNUMX, in the premises of the hilly institute.
There will be two shifts of performances: the first will be staged from 18pm to 20pm; the second from 20,30pm to 22,30pm. The evening will have as its theme Mediterranean, the so-called “Mare Nostrum”: a symbolic meeting place between cultures. An infinite space in which to recognize oneself. The road through which to try to find salvation. The Don Bosco institute will therefore open its doors to the citizens with its young students who will perform in a series of performances linked to their studies and to the exaltation of the formative value of the so-called “classical culture”.
All thanks to the organizational effort of the Department of Letters. The “National Night of the Classical High School”, as per tradition, also offers the opportunity to learn about the Vomerese Salesian Institute and its course of study. A concrete opportunity for those who need to enroll or for those who simply want to “revisit” their old school. A special event, therefore, that celebrates tradition and innovation. But also an evening full of activities, where the world of classical culture will come to life in an original and engaging way.
In short: much more than a party. An alternative and innovative way of "teaching" and conveying content. A focus on training of a different nature that does not replace traditional training, but rather complements it in a productive and profitable way. The beauty lies in the long and laborious preparations that precede it, which ensure that students identify the places where they daily experience the anxieties and expectations of a tiring but rewarding study path, with a playful environment, where culture means joy, the pleasure of sharing, respect for time and parts. To put it bluntly: a unique opportunity to discover and rediscover together the beauty of our cultural roots.

The National Night of the Classical High School is a very interesting initiative. Students can explore the world of classical culture, and I think it is important to form a generation more aware of their roots. It would be nice if there were more events like this.
