San Nicola la Strada – The activity to combat drug dealing in Largo Rotonda, a key area of San Nicola la Strada, continues, where the Carabinieri continue to strike relentlessly. The last intervention dates back to April 1st, when the military of the Radiomobile Section of the Company of Caserta They arrested a 26-year-old originally from Gambia, caught red-handed while selling a dose of hashish.
The young man was stopped immediately after selling a stick of hashish, weighing 1,05 grams, to an Italian buyer, the latter reported to the Prefecture as a user. At the sight of the carabinieri, the dealer attempted to flee, trying to get rid of the drugs: during the run he dropped a package containing 7 more doses of hashish, for a total of 15 grams. The attempt to escape capture was useless: stopped and searched, he was found in possession of 25 euros in cash, an amount believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The operation is part of a broader territorial control device implemented by law enforcement to stem the phenomenon of drug dealing in the area. The 26-year-old, arrested on charges of drug dealing, was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities. Another blow to drug trafficking, demonstrating the constant commitment of the Carabinieri to guarantee safety and legality.

The arrest of this young man shows that law enforcement is working to maintain security, although there are many questions about how the situation can be improved in the long term. Hopefully there will be more controls in the future.
It is important that the authorities continue to fight drug dealing, but we must also think of strategies to help young people in difficulty and prevent them from falling into these risky situations.
The operation shows that the drug problem is serious, but I wonder if these arrests are enough to stop the traffic. A more global approach is needed to address this complex issue.
