Trentola Ducenta, – An operation by the Carabinieri of the local station, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, led to the execution of a house arrest order against two entrepreneurs in the automotive sector, accused of money laundering, embezzlement and aiding and abetting.
Those involved and the accusations
They end up under house arrest:
PS, 50 years old, owner of a car dismantling company based in Trentola Ducenta;
MV, 30 years old, from Mugnano di Napoli, owner of a car rental company.
The preventive seizure of the demolition company was also ordered, suspected of being at the centre of an illicit ring of dismantling and resale of stolen or seized vehicles.
The investigation: ghost car and false documents
The investigation began with a report from a rental company in Northern Italy, which had lost track of a car. The still active GPS locator led the military to the PS warehouse, where the carcass of the vehicle's engine was found.
The investigations revealed that MV had misappropriated the rented car, having it demolished by the accomplice company. To cover it all up, he had used false documents, including a sub-rental contract registered to a non-existent person.
The Illicit System: Dismantling and the Black Market
The investigations, also supported by video surveillance and checks by ARPA Campania, revealed that the PS company dismantled stolen or seized cars and motorcycles, avoiding registering them in the mandatory waste book for car demolitions. The parts were then resold at rock-bottom prices, guaranteeing illicit profits.
In some cases, vehicle owners falsely reported theft or loss, when in reality they handed the cars over to the company to be illegally scrapped.
The GIP's decision: stop the illegal activity
The Preliminary Investigations Judge of Naples North has ordered not only house arrest, but also the seizure of the company to stop the flow of dirty money. The company will now be entrusted to a judicial administrator.
The operation dismantles a system that mixed legal and illegal activities, highlighting a widespread phenomenon in the sector of stolen vehicles and car parts recycling.
