Mercato San Severino – Sentenced to 30 years in prison SM, the 36-year-old Serbian national deemed responsible for the murder of Anna Landi, the 86-year-old woman who was the victim of a brutal attack in her home in Piazza Galdo between Christmas and New Year's Eve 2016.
The sentence, issued by the Gup Masucci of the court of Nocera Inferiore, accepted the request of the public prosecution, rejecting the defense line of the lawyer Gennaro De Gennaro.
The story dates back to December 29, 2016, when some criminals broke into Mrs. Landi's apartment, convinced they would find it empty.
Surprised by the presence of the old woman, they tied her up and beat her savagely, trying to get her to reveal where the money and valuables were hidden. Despite the woman's pleas, the robbers attacked her, venting their frustration over the meager loot.
Anna Landi died after 11 days of agony at the Umberto I hospital in Nocera Inferiore, due to the serious injuries she suffered. The investigation, conducted by the Nocera Inferiore prosecutor's office, led to the arrest of SM in Germany, seven years after the attack. The man was identified thanks to the DNA of his sister, involved in another theft in Benevento and killed in an accident while fleeing.
The sentence of 30 years of imprisonment was issued with an abbreviated procedure.

The story of Anna Landi is very tragic and sad. It is unbelievable how certain criminals can do such brutal things. The 30-year sentence seems fair to me, but I hope that justice is always done and not only in cases like this.
