The students of the Torquato Tasso and Sorrento and the Sant'Anna Institute. Guest, science journalist Eleonora de Sabata
Two days dedicated to the environment and the protection of marine ecosystems, those that end today in Sorrento. An initiative, sponsored by the Municipality of Sorrento, with the collaboration of the Torre del Greco Diving Center, which saw the students of the Torquato Tasso and Sorrento comprehensive institutes, the Sant'Anna Institute and the fishermen of Marina Grande as protagonists.
The guest of the important event is the scientific journalist Eleonora de Sabata, who has been dealing with the sea for over twenty years, with a particular focus on sharks and the Mediterranean.
During the various meetings, accompanied by the president of the Sorrento city council, Luigi Di Prisco, de Sabata illustrated to the children the curiosities and secrets of these creatures, also debunking false myths and beliefs.
“The explanation of the Banco di Santa Croce, between Vico Equense and Castellammare di Stabia, one of the largest known reproduction areas in the Mediterranean, where a particular species of shark called the “sea catshark” lives, aroused particular interest in the students,” explains President Di Prisco. “Not to mention the meeting with the fishermen, the first sentinels of the sea, who illustrated the characteristics of sustainable fishing and the effects of climate change on their activity.
Among the most significant moments of these two days, the activities carried out by the American students of the Sant'Anna Institute, engaged in the cleaning of the Marina Grande beach, organized in collaboration with Penisolaverde, which are part of the projects developed by the institute to develop active and engaging learning, teaching them the value of respect for the environment and for the host community".

I think the initiative is very important for the students and the community. However, there are some things that have not been explained well, such as the role of the fishermen and the importance of cleaning the beach. It would be useful to have more details.
