Arthritis is the main theme chosen by World Physiotherapy to celebrate World Physiotherapy Day, which falls on September 8.
For the occasion, the Order of Physiotherapists (OFI) of Lazio has organized two days full of events under the banner of the message 'Physiotherapists close to people', a claim that is part of the theme of the National Day 'Physiotherapy in all places of life'.
It begins on Thursday 7 September with a focus on the training of the Physiotherapist in a meeting organized by OFI LAZIO in collaboration with the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', a historic university, the largest in Europe, within which the theme of the attractiveness of the profession will be addressed between future prospects of training, innovation and research.
'The training of the Physiotherapist - explains the President of OFI LAZIO, Annamaria Servadio - can take place exclusively within the university institutions to which the education and training of health professionals is entrusted; a place of comparison with teachers, researchers, professionals, representatives of university institutions and, above all, students who intend to obtain a degree in Physiotherapy'.
'Training - continues Annamaria Servadio - represents the beating heart of our profession from where to start again to be able to build the best answers to people's health needs. The event will take place from 15 to 18 pm in the Aula A of General Pathology, in viale Regina Elena 234, of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' and will be open to students and professionals of the Physiotherapy degree courses of all the Universities of Lazio because the goal of OFI LAZIO is to collaborate, promote and support university training with all the reference institutions'.
The event at the University is only the beginning of the celebrations and of what will happen the following day, Friday 8 September: to best celebrate the World Physiotherapy Day, the Order of Physiotherapists of Lazio has organized, thanks to the availability of the Regional Council of Lazio and the Municipality of Rome, an institutional event and one aimed at citizens.
THE EVENT IN THE LAZIO REGION
For the first, the appointment is at the Sala Mechelli of the Regional Council of Lazio, in via della Pisana 1301, where from 9 to 13 the meeting entitled 'OFI LAZIO – Order of Physiotherapists in the Lazio Region' will be held. 'Together with the entire Board of Directors - says President Servadio - I want to thank the Regional Instructions for the hospitality and availability offered to celebrate and celebrate this very important Day'.
'We intend - he adds - to share with the regional institutions first and foremost but also with all those who have an impact on the health system, namely operators, professional orders and associations, a care and assistance model that guarantees the person initiative health interventions, adequate and differentiated in relation to the level of risk or severity of the problem, also focusing on prevention, education and the promotion of the active involvement of the person'.
THE TOPICS AT THE CENTER OF THE INSTITUTIONAL MEETING
There will be many topics on which the participants will focus. 'From the reorganization of primary care to the paradigm of initiative and proximity Physiotherapy - Servadio reports - which in our opinion represents one of the possible winning strategies to innovate territorial healthcare. Within this rich program we will bring the embryonic experiences already underway in some healthcare companies and we will turn the spotlight on the value of the profession within accredited healthcare, a cornerstone and hub of proximity Physiotherapy'.
HEALTH GYMS
In the integrated network model and Physiotherapy of initiative and proximity, it will be fundamental to address the issue of health gyms in all the territories of the Lazio region through a clear and defined model. 'We can no longer wait - Servadio recalls - health gyms represent one of the pillars of that Physiotherapy of initiative that can become one of the useful strategies to provide answers in those regional territories where the problem of access to care must be addressed by all professionals in a system perspective'.
This is one of the many topics discussed at the round table between regional institutions, professional orders and associations within a round table, moderated by the Director of the Dire agency, Nico Perrone.
One issue is particularly close to the heart of President Servadio and the entire Board of Directors of OFI LAZIO. 'In the past - Servadio is keen to say - we have been listened to very little. We know that Physiotherapy provides undeniable opportunities for recovery to people with temporary and/or permanent disabilities. We have the duty to offer the Institutions all possible solutions aimed at improving accessibility to care, but this can only happen through active participation in regional activities to give life to a new territorial health system finally able to intercept people's health needs'.
THE OFI LAZIO GAZEBO IN PIAZZA DEL POPOLO
And just thinking about how close Physiotherapy and Physiotherapists are to people and their journey, on the same day of September 8, OFI LAZIO also turns its gaze to citizens. It does so with an event hosted in one of the most beautiful squares in Rome, Piazza del Popolo. An event dedicated to healthy information, health education and prevention. From 9 am to 20 pm, citizens will find the OFI LAZIO gazebo where the Physiotherapists of the largest Order in Italy will give them useful information: first of all, that of contacting the regional Order of Lazio to be sure of being taken care of by a competent Physiotherapist and therefore regularly registered and not end up, instead, in the wrong hands.
To facilitate this operation, citizens who go to the gazebo will receive information material within which there will be a special QR code that will refer, if framed, to the national platform for the verification of Physiotherapists regularly registered and therefore legitimized to practice the profession. 'The Physiotherapist - Servadio reiterates - is a qualified and competent professional. Our profession unfortunately experiences large-scale and often uncontrolled abuse. This is why we will give citizens the basic tools to recognize the person in front of them when they decide to get treatment'.
All this and more: the Physiotherapists in the square will deliver graphic material and gadgets to participants and will be available to provide all the information on Physiotherapy, on the World Day and on all the activities of the Order of Lazio and on various questions of health education. 'We chose Piazza del Popolo - Servadio proudly states - because it is the square of everyone, it is the square of the people, it is the one that we think can best represent that image of closeness that the Order has towards citizens and professionals: the Physiotherapists close to the people'.
With the two-day event, the Board of Directors of OFI LAZIO expects to open a new page for Physiotherapy in the region. 'We have lived a very particular, very heavy year - underlines President Servadio - an extraordinary commissioner phase and subsequently the election of the bodies for the effective institution of the Regional Order, today finally constituted and in line with the implementation of all the processes necessary for its functioning'.
Servadio states: 'I hope that an important light will finally be shed on Physiotherapy, a discipline that is currently too undervalued compared to the evaluation and treatment opportunities that it can offer within the National Health Service'.
'If we talk about inclusion, especially for permanent disabilities - he continues - we cannot help but think of Physiotherapy as a truly indispensable tool. This is why we must find a way to implement it, innovate it and develop it to the best of our ability'.
The event in Piazza del Popolo will end on the evening of September 8th but will soon move online. 'We are building our regional institutional site - he concludes - where citizens can interact to build together the best proposals for the well-being and health of people. The Physiotherapists are here, the Physiotherapists close to people'.
