Confined to an illegal breeding farm in Tramonti, in dilapidated structures and in precarious hygienic-sanitary conditions. This is how the carabinieri found 36 dogs, all of the Setter breed, inside the boxes of a shack made of sheet metal and wooden boards and metal nets in a rural area of the hamlet of Corsano of the small town on the coast of Amalfi.
The manager of the facility, a 56-year-old hunter, was reported, as were the nine owners of the land who will have to prove that they were not involved in the activity. The hunter also received an administrative fine of 2.700 euros. Numerous reports to the Carabinieri by some citizens had brought the questionable conditions of the activity carried out in that area to their attention, circumstances later confirmed during the check carried out by the military led by Captain Alessandro Bonsignore.
The structure was seized. The intervention was carried out with the collaboration of the veterinarians of the ASL of Maiori and Nocera Inferiore and staff from the technical office of the Municipality of Tramonti. Some of the dogs, those with microchips, had been reported missing and 23 were returned to their rightful owners.
The future of the other animals, a dozen in total, many of which are without microchips, is still uncertain and could end up in shelters, but the possibility of entrusting the dogs to anyone who wants to take care of them is being evaluated. A request for adoption can be made to the Carabinieri of the Tramonti station. The Enpa (National Animal Protection Agency) of the Amalfi Coast is also interested in the case and will be a civil party in the trial.
