The toll of the heavy wave of bad weather that is hitting Tuscany has worsened with 7 deaths, 2 two men are still missing, one in Campi Bisenzio and the other in Prato. The latest victim is a 73-year-old man, whose body was found in Prato. The elderly man, according to what has been learned, died from electrocution.
Tuscany is the region that has paid the highest price to date due to bad weather: seven deaths in the latest bulletin from President Eugenio Giani. An 84-year-old and an 83-year-old in Montemurlo, in the province of Prato, one in Rosignano, in the Livorno area, to which are added a husband and wife from Lamporecchio (Pistoia), who were missing in the territory of the nearby municipality of Vinci (Florence), where their car had been overwhelmed by water and mud. Finally, a 73-year-old who, according to police sources, was found dead in Prato, probably electrocuted.
Two are missing: one in Campi Bisenzio and a fourth missing person was reported by the Carabinieri, still in the Florentine area, again in Campi Bisenzio, the area where the greatest critical issues are recorded.
In Pontedera, despite the flooding, the hospital is able to guarantee services, while throughout the territory, after the traffic system went haywire, the roads are gradually becoming passable again.
In Veneto, where the alert goes from red to orange, the search for the firefighter missing since yesterday in Puos Dalpago, in the province of Belluno, continues without stopping. A helicopter has also taken flight since yesterday, adding to the rescue and search device already alerted since yesterday.
According to rescuers, about 60 firefighters and a dozen units from the Veneto Alpine and Speleological Rescue are at work. Walter Locatello, 42, this is the name of the missing firefighter, fell yesterday afternoon in the Tesa torrent, near the cemetery, between Puos Dalpago and Bastia.
Locatello, off duty, had gone to his parents to deal with the critical issues related to the bad weather. While he was monitoring the homes at risk of flooding near the canal, he accidentally fell into the water. The searches involved, from the beginning, also the teams of divers, along the waterway that joins the Tesa torrent up to the lake of Santa Croce.
In Lombardy, the Seveso and Lambro remain under strict control. In Brescia, bad weather caused the roof of a house to collapse, while in Como firefighters are working to contain the flooding of the Lario. In Casacalenda, in the province of Campobasso, the wind devastated the gym of the elementary school. A wall collapsed under the force of gusts that exceeded 140 km per hour.
