Naples. Tired of “suffering” to pay the loan sharks he had turned to during the economic crisis due to the Covid pandemic, he went to the Carabinieri, bringing evidence and had the tormentors arrested.
The Carabinieri of the Naples Bagnoli Company executed at dawn today a precautionary custody order against six people, accused of usury, extortion and attempted aggravated extortion to the detriment of a well-known Neapolitan entrepreneur.
The entrepreneur, owner of a company providing assistance for IT products and area representative of the Democratic Party of I was helping, he had in fact gone into debt with a series of loan sharks to obtain cash loans to support his economic activity, which had entered into crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following the entrepreneur's complaint, the Carabinieri have started an investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office Napoli, which allowed us to gather serious evidence of guilt against the accused.
According to the investigations, the loan sharks took advantage of the entrepreneur's state of need to impose usurious interest rates, up to over 200%. In particular, for loans of variable sums, net of interest, the victim was forced to repay, as much as he could, a total of approximately 100.000 euros, for loans between 6.000 and 71.000 euros.
The Carabinieri executed the precautionary measures in the early hours of today, December 19, 2023. Two people were arrested in prison, two under house arrest and two were required to report to the judicial police.
Assets and bank accounts worth 200 thousand euros seized
The seals were also placed on the bank accounts of the suspects, for a total value of approximately 200.000 euros.
The operation, codenamed “Sofferenza”, was conducted by the Operations Unit of the Bagnoli Company, with the support of the Investigative Unit of Naples and the Special Operations Group of the Carabinieri.
