The Campania Civil Protection has issued a weather alert for strong winds from the North-North-East, with gusts; rough seas especially along the coasts exposed to the winds with possible storm surges.
The notice concerns all of Campania from 15pm tomorrow, Friday 15 December, to 21pm the day after tomorrow, Saturday 16 December.
Currently in effect a Yellow level weather alert for thunderstorms, which will remain in force until 22 pm today throughout the regional territory with the exception of zones 2 (Alto Volturno and Matese) 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and 7 (Tanagro). The thunderstorm phenomena will be characterized by "forecast uncertainty and rapid evolution".
They could be accompanied by hail, lightning and gusts of wind. Attention must be paid to the hydrogeological risk: among the main consequences of the impact of precipitation on the ground, there are 2 floods, rising water levels of watercourses, water flow on roads, runoff with transport of material, falling rocks and landslides linked to particularly fragile soil conditions”.
In view of the strong wind with gusts and the rough sea, it is recommended to 2pay attention to the correct maintenance of public greenery and mobile and temporary structures exposed to stresses". Municipalities are reminded to "keep the Coc (Municipal Operations Centers) active and to implement all measures aimed at preventing, countering and mitigating the expected phenomena, in line with the respective municipal civil protection plans".
