“In the light of the cross of Christ shines all the love that God has given us: like him, we want to bring hope of new life to this world”
On the fourth Sunday, the path of our Lent is illuminated by the light that comes from the cross of Christ. This light is announced to us as a grace that saves humanity. Certainly, observes Monsignor Angelo Spinillo in breaking the word of March 10, 2024, “looking at a crucifix is not an attractive sight, after all the body of a tortured man hanging on a cross reminds us of the absurd cruelty that humanity experiences daily, especially in today's world torn apart by so many wars”.
We find it difficult to accept the suffering that Jesus experienced but, adds the bishop of Aversa, “It is precisely in the cross of Christ that all the love that has been given to us by God shines forth: Jesus on the cross is the image of the suffering of all humanity, lived in obedient love to the love of the Father. We, like Christ the Lord, want to be those who bring hope of new life to this world.”
