A man in his 30s was hit and killed by a truck while walking along the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway in the Venticano area, in the province of Avellino.
The accident occurred during the night just passed. The officers of the Grottaminarda Highway Police are on site to investigate the dynamics of the incident.
According to initial information, the young man may have been involved in the accident while walking along the edge of the highway in the direction Naples, perhaps due to a possible breakdown or to ask for help.
Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, including a 118 ambulance, unfortunately the man lost his life due to the serious injuries sustained in the impact.
The victim's body was seized by order of the Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the Benevento forensic medicine department for any further investigations.
Authorities may consult surveillance camera footage from the highway and surrounding areas to reconstruct exactly what happened.
