Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March (19.30 pm), the ntS' company returns to the stage with a new site-specific project: Tableau de Mariage, written by Elvira Buonocore and directed by Mario Gelardi, with Francesca Cercola, Anna De Stefano, Carlo Di Maro, Gaetano Migliaccio, Gianluigi Montagnaro, Giovanna Sannino, Chiara Vitiello.
In this new project, conceived for the wonderful ceremonial courtyard of the Hotel Palazzo Caracciolo, Gelardi brings to the stage a long, interminable welcome aperitif, waiting for a newlywed couple to return from the classic photo shoot. While waiting for the newlyweds to arrive, the hypocrisy of relationships emerges, as does the bourgeois need to keep up appearances, respecting the roles imposed by the solid hierarchy of the Tableau de Mariage.
Above all, a curious fact dominates the scene: the guests are under 35 years old. The theatrical work uses music performed live by Carlo Vannini; the costumes are by Antonietta Rendina; lights and sound by Alessandro Messina. The project is realized with the support of MiC and SIAE as part of the program “Per Chi Crea”.

A wedding. The ceremonial air, the bad taste, the anxiety of the unexpected. The endless wait of the newlyweds, mysterious figures lost in the meanders of the couple's photoshoot. Every moment is marked by the liturgy of common sense, every detail, established by a qualified wedding planner. Everything seems perfectly ordinary, if it weren't for a demographic fact that dominates the writing: "Starting from a real assumption, such as the need to use actors under that terrible threshold of 35 years - explains the creator of the project Mario Gelardi -, Tableau de Mariage transforms the demographic constraint into a dramatic premise: the society described here repudiates the old. It considers them incapable, aesthetically inadequate and unsuitable to feed the international production machine. For this reason it distances them. It puts them on the margins. It excludes them. A young wedding, then. A party full of vigor. But youth is a variable condition and what determines it has no absolute value. Especially in this case, where you are old very early. 35 years old represents the void in our country. A dimension of unrecognized vagueness in which you are too adult to be young but too little grown up for the world to recognize and therefore accept the claim of confirmations and privileges that only those who are old enough to say they have arrived can afford».
So what do young people do on the margin? How do they join the party? And what happens when someone has a birthday? The marital frame is a perfect device for developing a narrative. For hypothesizing a revolution.
“After the closing of the New Sanità Theatre – continues Gelardi –, our company needed to rethink projects beyond the theatrical space. It seemed natural to us to start from a path that we had been experimenting with for some time: that of the theater outside the theater. So after Do not disturb and Tur de Vasc comes Tableau de Mariage. The idea is to dig into the folds of human hypocrisy, starting from some rites of passage of our society: we had already done it with La terza comunione and Niente fiori ma opere di bene. At the time, the church/theater in piazzetta San Vincenzo was a natural setting. Today, when our work is constantly looking for alternative spaces, our experimentation can be even more daring. And never like in this show, the audience will be inside the theater, it will have a dramaturgical function. It will be part of the scene, in short, it will participate in a real way in a real theatrical banquet".
