“I'll give it to you now bro, but don't talk on these phones anymore, you're all wiretapped, I went to the lawyer, we're all wiretapped, every phone call of mine, yours is written on the files, you... Pio, everything came out, November, December..."
These are the words of Giusy Valda, sister Francesco Pio Valda in prison for killing the innocent pizza maker Francis Pius Maimone last March at the Mergellina chalets.
The girl talks on the phone with the brother Luigi who calls from the Secondigliano prison, using a phone registered to a Pakistani, and asks for the number of the grandmother Giuseppina Niglio. It is April of last year and Giuseppina Assunta Valda, known as Giusy, has learned that there are investigations and wiretaps on the family.
She was then arrested in October along with her grandmother and five others for trying to help her murderous brother escape after the murder on the seafront.
But it is too late to take precautions and avoid the wiretaps because she herself, without knowing it, confirmed that it was her brother who killed the young pizza chef. She did so during a wiretapped phone call with her brother Luigi in prison the evening following the arrest of her brother Francesco Pio.
“but I knew everything oh!”, Luigi says to his sister who replies: “and don't talk to me at all, because I'm not feeling well at all, I'm just sick! I'm just "bingeing" myself with crying because I just can't stand certain things... something like that..."
Luigi Valda to his sister Giusy: “Pina doesn’t go out anymore…”
And Luigi, who understood the gravity of the situation, explained to his sister: “Pina isn’t coming out anymore! Ah?
He got me in trouble! You have to believe me… He got me in trouble! (editor's note, both are crying) I'm suffering… I'm suffering a lot! Where are you?”.
And Giusy talks about the climate around the Valda family: “ah? What did you say? Do you understand how they look at us here? Do you understand they hate us now!”.
And Luigi says: “OK but that’s a fight between kids! The kid did the “tarantella” and… he was shot! That’s not a problem! We have to see how they look at us… eh unfortunately eh… you have to see how they look at others… why didn’t they kill my father under his house? Through his classmates and how should I look at people!… Francesco Pio on the news?!”, Luigi asks his sister.
Which replies: “no, they only said twenty years of Barra! It was that asshole's fault! Understand?”
And Luigi: “Oh my god! But then they arrested two of them!”
Giusy specifies: “no, to him!”. And Luigi: “it's up to him now!”. “Giusy: "And' ".
And Luigi asks for explanations about the shooting: “and how did he do it? My brother isn't the only one who comes down! Do you understand what I'm saying?” And then Giusy provides some details: “Yes! He was in a group, but he was seen… come on, they say! Do you understand?”.
And at that point Luigi says: “you understand what Pina has done! Pina has ruined her life!”.
And Giusy replies: “mamma mia! I have certain pains in my stomach… when it comes out more… nineteen years old, without a child she hasn’t had a child, nothing has been seen well!
eh… my goodness…”
And at that point Luigi explains to his sister that Francesco Pio will not be put in the same pavilion where he is in the Secondigliano prison because it is not a Camorra murder: “that’s common… it’s a common crime… now they won’t even bring it to me!”
And Giusy: “no, now you have to see, maybe he's even associated with you! With the clan!”.
Luigi explains further to his sister: “no, it has nothing to do with it! Oh, one thing…”.
And Giusy again: “that one is that one… that one is that one (editor's note, insult) you understand that he is interrogating”.
And Luigi's reflection on his brother's future legal path: “if that one… if that one puts Article Seven on it, she brings it here to my brother, she ruined my life. She won't let him get an extenuating circumstance anymore! It's a common crime for my brother. If they want to accuse him, they should put him in common. That's a street fight! She can't put Article Seven on it! She can do whatever she wants! (editor's note: he's referring to the Public Prosecutor)”.
And Giusy understands the gravity of the situation: “Oh my God! What has he done!”
Louis: “you just can’t put him here with me! Because…”.
Giusy therefore confirms, without knowing it, the accusatory framework that will then lead to the 11 precautionary orders of March 20, signed by the investigating judge Federica Colucci, which hit her, her two brothers, her grandmother and seven other affiliates: “but then I say asshole! But for a pair of shoes? Shoes get washed! Go away!'.
How to tell his brother Francesco Pio why he shot for a pair of shoes? And he should explain this.
