Language and Identity in Annabella Rossi's Works
The ninth meeting of the “Salerno Colloquia 2023-2024 – 'Living Reality is Already Science'” will be dedicated to linguistic strategies and the construction of identity in the work of Roman anthropologist Annabella Rossi. The event will be curated by Vincenzo Esposito and the Interdepartmental Laboratory of Anthropology “Annabella Rossi” at UNISA.
Linguistic Analysis of Annabella Rossi's Archives
The meeting will take place on April 29, 2024, at the Fisciano Campus at 10:30 and at the San Michele Complex-Fondazione Carisal at 17:30. During the event, researchers Luisa Corona and Rosalba Nodari, under the direction of director Elisa Flaminia Inno, will present a linguistic analysis of material collected by Annabella Rossi between 1959 and 1970. The analysis will focus on Michela Margiotta's correspondence, the Campania Sound Archive, and documentaries on Giuseppina Gonnella in collaboration with Luigi Di Gianni.
During the discussion, the evolution of Michela Margiotta's vocabulary and writing skills will be examined, as well as the linguistic and paralinguistic elements present in Giuseppina Gonnella's possession recordings. The mime-gestural elements and the role of the participants in the possession rituals will also be analyzed.
