A terrible domestic accident caused the hospitalization in an alcoholic coma of a baby of only 4 months. The little one, according to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri, drank white wine instead of water while his grandmother was preparing powdered milk.
The grandmother, busy with the housework, prepared her grandson's bottle using a bottle of white wine, mistaking it for water because of the dark color of the glass.
After the first few sips, the child refused to drink and pushed the bottle away, arousing the suspicion of his grandmother who noticed the mistake.
The woman immediately alerted the child's mother who took the baby to the emergency room at the Perrino hospital in Brindisi.
When he arrived at the hospital, the child was already in an alcoholic coma. He underwent gastric lavage and was intubated and was urgently transferred to the intensive care unit of the Giovanni XXIII pediatric hospital in Bari.
The Brindisi Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation, but the Carabinieri of the Francavilla Fontana company believe that it was a tragic domestic accident.
The little boy's condition is slightly improving, but the prognosis remains reserved. Doctors are carefully monitoring his clinical picture.
