The Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane launches the project “Green Craft“, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, with the aim of promoting sustainable practices in the supply chainArtistic craftsmanshipThe project will be presented on Saturday 1 June, at 18.30:XNUMX pm, at Villa Campolieto, and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipalities of the Golden Mile.
Project Objectives and Goals
The “Green Craft” project aims to enhance and promote eco-sustainable practices in cultural and creative businesses related to artistic craftsmanship. This will translate into training, resources and incentives to adopt more environmentally friendly processes. Special attention will be paid to coral processing and the production of vintage clothing, sectors traditionally important for the Vesuvian area.
A Growing Network
Gennaro Miranda, president of the Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane, emphasized the enthusiasm generated by the initiative: “We have already obtained the support of many schools, Assocoral, operators of the vintage and fashion system, social cooperatives, anti-racket associations and third sector entities,” he declared. The goal is to further expand the network of actors involved during the 22 months of the project, increasingly tying artistic craftsmanship to recycling and reuse practices.
A New Sustainable Development
Roberto Chianese, General Director of the Foundation, commented on the strategic importance of the project for the promotion of eco-sustainable skills: “Through capacity building strategies, we will give the opportunity to develop new skills in the field of artistic craftsmanship, looking at the environment, the themes of reuse and the circular economy”. He also underlined the responsibility of managing European funds to improve the territory and create new opportunities for growth and employment, especially for young people.
Future Steps
The next step will be to draw up a call for future training activities planned by the project. After the presentation, it is expected that further subjects will join the initiative, expanding the network of collaborations. Technical tables, thematic ateliers, workshops, laboratories and focus groups will be some of the tools to involve all interested parties and discuss production strategies, marketing and creation of an identity brand for new artisanal products.
The “Green Craft” project aims to be a model of sustainable innovation in artistic craftsmanship, thus underlining the role of the Vesuvian Villas not only as historical monuments but also as cultural and socio-economic hubs.
