Caserta. The victim of the scam, a 48 year old from Caserta, after realizing he had been scammed, reported the matter to the police of the Arienzo Station his misadventure.
It happened yesterday morning when the man, convinced he was getting a great deal, paid a deposit of 1500 euros via bank transfer to purchase an agricultural tractor, put up for sale by a 43-year-old woman from Crotone on a well-known web platform.
After a few hours, however, he noticed that the advertiser, despite his continued attempts to contact her, had stopped all forms of communication.
The immediate investigations carried out by the military of the Arma, through the cross-referencing of the data of the current account provided for the payment with those of the telephone number used by the advertiser and the details of the identity document left as a guarantee for the payment, allowed them to trace his identity.
The woman, already known to the police for having committed numerous scams, this time he had used a telephone number registered to a non-EU citizen and a falsified identity document, originally registered to another person and also used to commit other online scams.
The formalization of the complaint on the part of the victim has allowed the military to proceed with the referral at liberty of the 43-year-old, held responsible for the fraud, and the preventive seizure of her bank account. Part of the blocked sum, equal to 2000 euros, will be used to compensate the complainant.
