It's time to return to Napoli, the time of returning home: it is entitled “Faraway Star” the new single by Shara, singer-songwriter and performer of Campanian and Lucanian origins, always the voice of the South of the world and of Southern Italy.
A Tribute to the Excellences of the South
The song will be released on all international music platforms on Friday, June 21, 2024, the day on which the European Music Festival is celebrated. Shara explains that the song was born as a tribute to the tenth edition of the Premio Eccellenze del Sud, an event that returns after a 3-year forced break due to the pandemic. The tenth edition of the award will be held on July 19 in the spaces of Villa Signorini, in Ercolano, with Shara leading the initiative.
The Meaning of “Long Star”
Fresh from the success of the concert/show “Interludio” at the Teatro Posillipo in Naples, Shara shares the meaning of her new song: “Stella Luntana” talks about a “night in which the stars begin to shine”. The song represents the call of the homeland, with natural sounds such as the wind and the waves of the sea. It tells the torment of those who live far from their land and dream of returning to their “Stella Luntana”.
The Official Video
The official video of the song will be presented on Shara's YouTube and Vevo channels, directed by Michele Pesce. The video will highlight the two souls of the song: one that evokes a distant place and another that brings us under the skies of Naples. The video was shot in two evocative locations: the Pietracavalla Ranch on the Brescia side of Lake Garda and the iconic Terrazza delle Muse of the Grand Hotel Parker's in Naples.
An Autobiographical Experience
The song is arranged by the renowned musician and producer Gianluca Carbone and is born from an autobiographical experience of Shara. The singer-songwriter tells of a traumatic awakening that occurred in London, which led her to understand that it was time to return home. This personal episode inspired the song, which Shara dedicated to the Premio Eccellenze del Sud.
A Recognized Talent
A singer with a broad, warm and flexible voice, but also a songwriter, designer and producer, Shara – whose real name is Sarah Ancarola – recently received the prestigious Leone d'Oro – Grand Prix Internazionale di Venezia 2024. The award recognizes the talent and versatility of the singer-songwriter, who has illuminated the musical and cultural scene both in Italy and abroad.
