Castellammare. The Carabinieri of the Castellammare di Stabia Company arrested a 35-year-old local man on charges of aggravated extortion, committed through the so-called “return horse”.
The man, already subjected to the preventive measure of Special Surveillance with obligation to stay, is considered responsible for having forced a citizen of Pagani to hand over 2.000 euros to him for get the car back of the mother, who had been stolen in Castellammare di Stabia on October 8, 2023.
The suspect, taking advantage of the theft, contacted the victim asking for the sum of money in exchange for the return of the car.
The car, in fact, was found partially damaged in the municipality of Santa Maria la Carità only one day after the theft.
The investigations of the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata, have taken a turn thanks to the analysis of video surveillance images, the testimonies collected and the technical activity carried out.
The arrested man, at the end of the formal procedures, was taken to the Naples Poggioreale prison.
