Marta was found dead on Sunday morning in Barano d'Ischia. According to the investigations conducted by the Carabinieri and coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, her partner, the 41-year-old Russian Ilia Batrakov, was arrested for mistreatment.

Among the violent incidents, Batrakov had forced her into a burning fire, causing second-degree burns. After yet another argument, Marta Maria left her home on Saturday afternoon and, tripping, fell into a ravine. Injured and unable to move, she called her partner for help via calls and WhatsApp messages, but they ignored them.

Her partner claimed to have found her in the vegetation during the night, but left her there, telling her that she would have to spend the night there. Marta Maria died after a long agony, and Batrakov then called the Carabinieri the following morning, when he found her lifeless body.
The investigation revealed years of abuse and threats, with testimonies describing a climate of terrible harassment. Marta Maria, fragile due to psychiatric problems, could not escape the violence. Batrakov's arrest was validated and he is now in prison, awaiting the hearing scheduled for today.
