The 29th edition of the festival Pomigliano Jazz presents itself with its now classic itinerant version, proposing a program that is divided into two parts, between July and September, with a rich calendar of events in Cimitile, Avella, on Vesuvius, and in Pomigliano d'Arco. This festival not only offers a musical experience of the highest level, but also aims to enhance the artistic and cultural heritage of Campania.
July events
The Basilicas Paleocristiane of Cimitile will host the first event of the festival on July 13, with the concert of the Gonzalo Rubalcaba Trio, an extraordinary group led by the Cuban pianist and composer Gonzalo Rubalcaba. On July 17, the Roman amphitheater of Avella will welcome two jazz legends, John Scofield and Dave Holland, in a musical dialogue that also includes a selection of jazz standards. On July 21, the festival will move to the Vesuvius Observatory with the project of Marco Zurzolo, while on July 27 and 28, the enchanting Strada Matrone and the Gran Cono del Vesuvio will become the stage for the performances of Maria Pia De Vito and Peppe Barra respectively.
Focus on Pomigliano d'Arco in September
The final phase of the festival will take place in Pomigliano d'Arco in September, where the Circumvesuviana Station, currently closed to the public for renovations, will be transformed into a space dedicated to youth creativity. Concerts, DJ sets, exhibitions and artistic performances will be organized here, with a special focus on the Orchestra del Ritmo e dell'Improvvisazione, composed of 100 students aged 8 to 18, born from the “Young Jazz Lab” project.
Sustainability and Tourism
The Pomigliano Jazz festival embraces the Green Jazz philosophy, a commitment to the environment that materializes in a series of tourist itineraries aimed at discovering and enhancing the natural, food and wine and cultural resources of Campania. This combination of music and territory finds its maximum expression in the routes and excursions that accompany the concerts, offering a unique opportunity to explore fascinating and often little-known places.
