Lega Serie A president Lorenzo Casini expressed deep disappointment at the end of the FIGC council meeting, after his request to postpone the election regulation until September was rejected. Casini explained that the request to postpone the regulation was motivated by the need to evaluate the impact of the legislative decree on sport and adjust the weights and representations accordingly.
However, despite the commitment of the federal president to review the regulation following the entry into force of the law, the regulation was approved with the vote against of Serie A. “Today Serie A is under-represented. It is about having the right weight corresponding to the role that Serie A deserves to have”, Casini declared.
The president expressed concern about the current representation of the top flight in the new electoral regulation. The decision did not satisfy the top management of the Serie A, who see the urgent need to review the representation parameters to ensure adequate and proportional participation in the contribution of Serie A to the national football panorama.
