Giuseppe De Rosa, an ultramarathon runner originally from Sala Consilina, is preparing to face a unique challenge in Kenya. He will be the only Italian among 89 participants in the For Rangers Ultra, an extreme endurance competition organized by Beyond the Ultimate, which includes five stages in five days for a total of 230 kilometers. The race will take place from September 2 at the foot of Mount Kenya, crossing the protected nature reserves of East Africa, known to be habitats of rhinos, elephants, zebras, giraffes and other wildlife.
De Rosa said he was deeply excited to take part in this adventure in such an iconic place, where for years local rangers have been bravely fighting against armed poaching cartels. “These men and women defend their territory daily from illegal wildlife trafficking, which in recent years has become one of the main businesses of organized crime”, explained the athlete.
La For Rangers Ultra It is organized in collaboration with the associations Save the Rhino e For Rangers, committed to protecting African wildlife, providing support and equipment to those who risk their lives to defend these ecosystems. For De Rosa, this race represents much more than a sporting challenge.
"Taking part in this ultramarathon is a way for me to join the fight against poaching and run for the protection of nature. I am proud to be the only Italian competing in Kenya, the home of long-distance running, and to be able to support such an important environmental cause", he has declared.
The athlete from Salento is no stranger to challenges of this magnitude. In the past he has participated in other extreme competitions organized by Beyond the Ultimate, such as the Highland Ultra in Scotland and the Jungle Ultra in Peru. After Kenya, De Rosa will face another adventure in Bolivia, where he will participate in a new ultramarathon organized by Canal Aventure, after a short period of rest.
De Rosa continues to demonstrate his dedication both in sport and in his commitment to environmental protection, bringing the pride of his country with him to these incredible international challenges.
