Carmine Piccolo, national secretary of FILDA, underlined how the achievement of these important and advantageous goals for all is possible only through serious and constructive collaboration between workers, companies, unions and institutions, to ensure that in the workplace there are happy people who with commitment and passion contribute to the activities and growth of companies. Therefore, the minimum wage guaranteed by law, the short week of 4 working days and maximum attention to safety at work are necessary"
The minimum wage
One of the central objectives of FILDA, which represents private and public sector workers and pensioners, is the introduction of a legal minimum wage of 9 euros per hour for all workers. The establishment of a minimum wage, in fact, is fundamental for reduce wage disparities and combat unfairly low wages, which are still present in many sectors. Ensuring a fair minimum wage not only protects the dignity of the worker, but also represents a powerful tool to combat economic and social inequalities among workers.
The short week
Another proposal from FILDA is that of 40-hour work week spread over 4 days. This model aims to improve the work-life balance by allowing employees to have more free time without reducing their overall working hours. The idea is to offer greater flexibility and ensure that people have the right amount of time to dedicate to their families, personal interests and their physical and mental well-being. If organized effectively, the short week could transform the work environment, making it more peaceful, collaborative and sustainable. In addition, employees with more free time are less stressed and less prone to problems such as burnout.
Workers' safety
Another priority objective of FILDA is workers' safety. The Federation's proposal includes the adoption of a detailed program that companies must follow, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. A key element is the active collaboration between companies and the labour inspectorate, in order to constantly monitor working conditions and prevent accidents or violations of the rules, it is therefore advisable to have a Preventive Inspection agreed between companies and the inspectorate for the upstream verification of all the options adopted for safety.
With regard to the Safety of large construction sites and large companies, FILDA proposes the introduction of innovative technologies, such as the use of cameras and drones, to perform Virtual Inspections. This solution would allow for more efficient and widespread control of workplaces, reducing the need for physical inspections and improving the timeliness of interventions.
