“If Athens cries, Sparta doesn't laugh” he begins Gennaro New Year, president of the Comitato Valori Collinari and former president of the District, referring to the recent negative events concerning two municipal parks in the hilly area.
On the one hand, the Mascagna Park has been closed for over a year for redevelopment works, which have been continuously postponed despite the recent assignment to a new company.
On the other hand, the educational agricultural park in viale Raffaello, inaugurated a year ago with an error in the plaque dedicated to the agronomist Carmine Minopoli, experienced a surreal day: Sunday morning, under the sun, many citizens had gone there to visit it and celebrate the anniversary of the inauguration, but it was not possible to enter because the keys to the gate were nowhere to be found.
Only in the late morning, after the keys were found, was the problem solved, but the story is incredible, almost Kafkaesque.
Capodanno recalls that the creation of this educational agricultural park had been awaited for over twenty years. The park, inaugurated with great fanfare on September 15th of last year in the presence of the mayor and councilors, extends over an area between viale Raffaello and salita Cacciottoli, in the space of the former gasometer.
The works, financed with an additional 100.000 euros in addition to the 2 million already spent, were supposed to last seven months, but dragged on for years.
The construction process went through three different municipal administrations, from Iervolino to De Magistris, up to Manfredi, with a delay of 12 years compared to the inauguration announced in 2011.
Faced with the state of degradation in which many green areas of the city find themselves, with closed parks, flowerbeds and planters full of waste and trees falling due to lack of maintenance, as recently happened in via Bernini, Capodanno renews the request for the resignation of the municipal councilor for greenery, Vincenzo Santagada.
The online petition launched by Capodanno on the Change.org platform, addressed to the mayor of Napoli, has already collected 600 signatures.
