Diapers, pacifiers and other gadgets. In the homes of newborns of San Marzano sul Sarno, a municipality in the province of Salerno, an Amazon package arrives with the welcome kit from the municipal administration.
This initiative was promoted by the mayor Andrea Annunziata, on the proposal of the majority city councilor Salvatore Annunziata, who took action to contact the company supplying the materials to be sent.
The operation, explains Salvatore Annunziata, will be at zero cost for the organization thanks to the collaboration with the private supplier and delivery via Amazon.
New parents will receive a package containing baby care products, and thanks to the support of Amazon, home delivery will be completely free. The gift will be delivered not only to newborns, but also to children born from January 1, 2024.
According to Councilor Annunziata, this involves about 120-130 children. “San Marzano,” she adds, “wants to go against the grain of the demographic decline. We know that new parents will have additional needs and we are studying more structural interventions, always considering the tightness of the municipal budgets.”
To join the initiative, new parents will receive an acceptance form directly from the Municipality, thanks to the list provided by the Registry Office, to order the kit. “A gesture of attention and closeness in such a joyful moment,” underlines a note from the Municipality.
“The initiative was shared by the councilor with responsibility for social policies, Colomba Farina.”
