On Tuesday afternoon, a 38-year-old woman originally from Napoli she was reported by the State Police for crimes of money laundering, counterfeiting and illicit use of state seals, as well as various violations of the Highway Code.The officers of the Naples Highway Police Section, during a normal road surveillance service on the SS268 in the municipality of Boscoreale, they noticed a vehicle with Polish license plates stopped in a rest area and proceeded to check it.
The 38-year-old was on board the vehicle, and subsequent checks revealed a discrepancy between the manufacturer's identification plate in the engine compartment and the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the windshield.
The analysis confirmed that the chassis was a counterfeit, belonging to another car of the same model, registered to a person resident in Puglia. The original owner, contacted by telephone, confirmed that she was in possession of the authentic vehicle.
In light of the irregularities found, the driver was reported and the vehicle was seized.
